Shanghai City

Abbreviated to Hu, Shanghai is located at the forward position of the Yangtse River Delta. Because its branch Wusong River flows into the sea, it is called Shanghai. Shanghai is the largest commercial and financial center in China as well as an important international port city. Being a city famous for its history and culture, and an epitome of modem China, it used to be reputed as "the passage of river and sea as well as the biggest city of southeast China". In the 1930s, Shanghai tan was a paradise of fortune adventurers, integrating western culture with that of China. Today’s Shanghai, a modernized, open city with traditional Chinese culture, not only possesses old-fashioned western buildings at Waitan, modem skyscrapers, Xujiahu cathedral, Dongfang Mingzhu Television Tower, but also is the busiest commercial center across China, reputed as "shopping paradise".
