The amphitheatre lot the show ''Impression LiuSanjie" is located in the south of the Town of Yangshuo. at the confluence of the Tianjia and Lijiang rivers. With the nearby Lijiang waters as stage and 12 hills as backdrop, it is the world's largest open-air theatre in a beautiful natural setting. The show, focusing on the theme of the legendary singer Liu Sanjie, integrates the elements of folk culture, classical folk songs and fishing lights. Enhanced by music, stage effect, lighting and costume, the spectacle becomes part of the landscape, reflecting the harmony of man with nature. The show is directed by three famous Chinese directors, Zhang Yimou, Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue. The site of performance is listed as a "National Demonstration Base of Cultural Industry". The show admits 2200 people and lasts about 90 minutes.
How to get there
The amphitheatre is about one kilometer from the town, accessible by walking or by electric passenger cart that shuttles between the amphitheatre and town centre (fare: 2 yuan). There is a paid car park at the entrance to the amphitheatre (parking fee 5 yuan).
Photography Tips
As the show is staged in the evening, a tripod and a cable release are needed. In order to obtain a better shooting position, ask for a seat as front as possible when buying your ticket. For film photography, ISO 200 and above is recommended.
For Your Information
The timing of the show is 8:00-9:30 pm every evening. Standard admission fee: 188 yuan. In case of rain, free disposable raincoats are provided. Only under unforeseen conditions beyond the control of the theatre company, typically rising water in the Lijiang River. The show is cancelled for the night and the ticket is fully refundable.
