With a history of 1700 years, the ancient town of Xingping is located on the east bank of the Lijiang River within the boundaries of Yangshuo County. Standing on Xingping Wharf, you are surrounded by the beautiful scenery of mountains and waters.

How to get there
Twenty-five kilometres to Yangshuo Town, Xingping is conveniently located. There are frequent bus services between the two centers. Bus fare: 5.5 yuan.

Where to stay
There are just too many sights and subjects around Xingping to be framed in your camera. Tourists take a snapshot and leave but photographers usually need to stay on and wait for the perfect weather. If time permits, it is a good choice for photographers and enthusiasts to stay for a few days to fully enjoy the beauty of this area. There are many small hotels to choose from in Xingping. The two most favored by photographers are Wangjianglou Hotel and Cuiyuan Private Lodge. The owner of Wangjianglou Hotel is Zhou Qinsi, better known as Laosi among photographers. He is familiar with all the scenic spots around Xingping and photography routes along the Lijiang River. He provides shooting spot information, boat rentals, guiding and porter age services. Huang Xingyue, the owner of Xingping Cuiyuan Private Lodge, used to be a boatman. He knows well the scenic spots in Xingping and along the Lijiang River. He also provides services in regard to shooting spots and routes. The regular rate for a standard room is 50 yuan. Telephone: 0773-8702462. 

Photography Tips
The best place to capture a panorama view of Xingping is at Xingping Hotel, the tallest building in Xingping at present. However the hotel has been closed for renovation. The construction work makes an ascent to the top floor quite strenuous. Front lighting is used in the morning and backlighting can be used in late afternoon for sunset shots. You may also walk over the bridge and shoot on the riverbank under the Unicom Tower.
